M-J League-IVL contest Rules

Contest opens July 26 and is open to anyone. The winner will win a case of Millsteam Beer. The contest will end on August 12. In case of a tie the earlier entry will be the winner. I was recently asked by Ray Stark if I could find an article about a game that he had pitched for Peoples Bank of the now defunct M-J League. He did not know the year of the game and only a few details. He thought the score was 1-0. I was able to locate the game in the newspaper. The story and box score indicated the names of several players that played or had played in the Iowa Valley League during their playing careers. This gave me an idea for a contest to see who could name the most players in the game that had been on an IVL roster. The rules are as follows.

1. Your entry must name one team from the IVL that the player had played with as a roster player. If you name a wrong team you will have one answer subtracted from your score. You can not name more than one team on your entry form for each player.

2. You may only submit one entry.

3. Any dispute of the answers must be supported by concrete evidence.{printed material}

4. A player must have been on an IVL roster with that team. Special tournament play with a team is not an IVL roster player. Tournament play such as Labor Day or other special tournaments would not be considered.

5. Your selections must come to me in writing or on the internet michaeltgibney@gmail.com

Oh yes, the details that Ray remembered were that the team he pitched against was the Midwest Janitors. He recalled that the Janitors had a very weak hitting second baseman that was the only player substituted for during the game. Ray remembered striking him out on three straight pitches right down Broadway!
